Medications for Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor
Other names: Gastro Intestinal carcinoid; GEP NETs
Gastroenteropancreatic (GEP) neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) are all neuroendocrine tumors which develop from the gastrointestinal tract and may be further defined as foregut, midgut or hindgut tumors. Even the neuroendocrine cell has both a nerve function and a hormone-producing endocrine function. Since they have been hormone-producing cells surplus hormone levels can be produced by that the cyst with clinical signs of hormonal hypersecretion which is called a functioning cyst. Tumors which do not create hormone secretion are called non-functioning tumors and are clear of the signs of hormonal hypersecretion.
